The Animal Database
The Animal Database is a foundational component in Shelter Pro. The database stores information about each animal who has ever been entered on the database.
To access the animal database, you'll find the item 'Animal Database' under each of modules shown on the main menu. Here is one sample showing 'Animal Database' under the Shelter Management menu.

There are numerous ways an animal record would come to exist on the database. Some of the common events would include:
- Having been sheltered by your organization;
- Having an encounter with animal animal control where the animal was involved in an incident;
- Having been licensed by the owner;
- Having been added by the owner via Shelter Pro Portal or by the staff using Shelter Pro's "New Animal" function;
- Having been converted from a legacy system.
