Case Records

Important basics

To access the Case View, from the Shelter Pro main menu select Shelter Management, then Case View.

The most significant feature of the Shelter Management Module are 'Case' records. Every animal that enters the shelter should have a 'New' Case created upon intake. Each case record will contain important details about the shelter case for the animal. This includes, but is not limited to, these common intake reasons:

  • Stray/ACO pickup (animal was impounded by animal control)
  • Stray/Citizen Turn-in (animal was found and turned in by a non-owner)
  • Unwanted/Owner Turn-in (animal was surrendered by the owner)
  • Found/Citizen Holding (animal was found and is being held by a non-owner)
  • Clinic Visit (animal was brought in for a clinic 'visit')
  • Transfer (animal was transferred in from another agency)

After being created, the case will be considered 'Open' until a disposition is posted. Once a disposition is posted, the case will be considered 'Closed' and will be retained on the database for historical purposes. Some common examples of disposition are

  • Adopted (animal was adopted to a new owner)
  • Return to Owner (animal was redeemed by the owner)
  • Rescued (animal was transferred to a rescue group)
  • RTO-clinic (animal was brought in for a clinic visit and left with the owner)
  • Euthanized (animal was euthanized)
