Case View - Medication/Vaccination Details
Medication/Vaccination records are used to document treatments that are done for an animal. We treat animals with medications/prescriptions (if the animal is ill) and with vaccinations (preventative treatments). These typically involve giving the animal a drug or vaccine via injection, oral, drops, etc.

Medication/Vaccination records will document the following data elements.
Treatment Reason
This is the condition the animal is being treated for. Note that this list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list MEDICATION_REASON which should include ALL medication and vaccination types that your facility administers.
Further, Shelter Pro will automatically differentiate which items are vaccinations using the dropdown list VACCINATION_TYPE. If an identical item exists in both the MEDICATION_REASON and VACCINATION_TYPE lists, Shelter Pro will automatically differentiate the item as a vaccination versus a medication.
Status
The status of the treatment, which can be complete or scheduled. When adding a new record, setting the status to scheduled would be used to pre-schedule the item to be completed at a later date. Note that when status is set to scheduled, the date administered label will be re-labeled to date scheduled. This date can be changed to the future, scheduled date when the medical item is to be completed.
Treatment Type
This is the indicator if a treatment is a vaccination or a medication.
Date Administered / Date Scheduled
The date/time stamp when the item was either completed, or when the item was scheduled.
Administered By/Scheduled By
The person or entity that completed or scheduled the medical item. This list will show vets, vet clinics, and staff members.
Manufacturer
When a drug is given, this documents the organization/business that manufactured the drug. Note that this list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list DRUG_MANUFACTURER.
Drug Name
When a drug is given, this documents the brand name the drug. Note that this list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list DRUG_NAME.
Lot
When a drug is given, this documents the lot of the drug that is commonly found on the packaging.
Serial
When a drug is given, this documents the lot of the serial identifier that is commonly found on the packaging.
Dosage
When a drug is given, this documents the numeric quantity and measure of the drug that was given. Note that the measure list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list DOSAGE_MEASURE.
Next Treatment
If a later/subsequent treatment is to be scheduled, select the treatment reason to be scheduled.
Next Treatment Date
If a later/subsequent treatment is to be scheduled, enter the future date specifying when the treatment will become due.
Notes
Notes are optional, but are very commonly used and needed to provide adequate details about the particular record entered on the database. With notes you'll find there are varying note types which are specific to any particular event type.
For a treatment, some common note types would include 'Treatment Notes'. There may be additional note types defined on your Shelter Pro as note types can be extended using Shelter Pro's Customize features. This list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list NOTE_TYPE_MEDICATE.
Click on the Add Note button to add a new note, or View Note to open, review, edit an existing note. The View All will present all notes combined in chronological order for ease reading the full narrative on one screen. The Toggle View button will cause the content in the list to be changed to a different display setting.
