Case View - Prescription Details

Prescription records are a variance on medication/vaccination used to document treatments that are done for an animal where there are multiple treatments over a period of time. We treat animals with medications/prescriptions (if the animal is ill) and with vaccinations (preventative treatments). These typically involve giving the animal a drug or vaccine via injection, oral, drops, etc.

Note in this example that the Prescription checkbox is marked. This allows the entry of the additional data elements documenting the administration instructions of the prescription. These additional items supplement the other items defined for the medication/vaccination record.

Start Date
This is the date the prescription administration begins.

Admin Method
This instructs how the drug is to be given to the animal. Note that this list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list DRUG_ADMIN_METHOD.

Dosage and Measure
When a drug is given, this documents the numeric quantity and measure of the drug that was given. Note that the measure list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list DOSAGE_MEASURE.

Times per day
This instructs how many times per day the prescription/drug is to be given.

Notes

Notes are optional, but are very commonly used and needed to provide adequate details about the particular record entered on the database. With notes you'll find there are varying note types which are specific to any particular event type.

For a treatment, some common note types would include 'Treatment Notes'. There may be additional note types defined on your Shelter Pro as note types can be extended using Shelter Pro's Customize features. This list can be modified via the customizable dropdown list NOTE_TYPE_MEDICATE.

Click on the Add Note button to add a new note, or View Note to open, review, edit an existing note. The View All will present all notes combined in chronological order for ease reading the full narrative on one screen. The Toggle View button will cause the content in the list to be changed to a different display setting.

Documents Tab

The Documents tab will show any posted document images relevant to the treatment. There are many potential uses for Document Imaging relative to a test, however you are not limited to just these:

Any images relevant to the animal's medical history that might have particular relevance to the treatment.
